Sligo has become one of the most popular destinations in Ireland for hen and stag parties. Hundreds of hens and stags descend on Sligo every weekend ready for an action packed couple of days. Fergal Quinn from Hen and Stag Sligo tells us of how the market has grown over the years and what’s popular with hen’s and stag’s coming to Sligo:

Sligo has always been a popular destination for hen and stag parties because of the huge amount of hen party ideas and stag party ideas to do in Sligo. Our company have teamed up with over 100 local suppliers to provide a super easy, hassle-free portal for arranging a party in Sligo. We get parties from all over Ireland but particularly from Northern Ireland and our surrounding counties. When we started out in 2014, Sligo was popular but nowhere near where it is today. It’s is now without question one of the most popular destinations. We have experienced growth in the market every year since we started the website and 2020 looks like it going to continue its growth going by bookings to date.

There is a huge amount of activities that are not widely available elsewhere in Ireland. Things like Surfing in StrandhillCoasteering in MullaghmoreHorse Trekking and a day at the races are quite unique to Sligo. As a result, they tend to be quite popular. There are a number of other hen party packages that are very popular which include Spa Packages, The Cube Challenge and Hens on the Farm experience. There are some other more bespoke in-house packages like the Old School Sports Day, Family Fortunes and Celebrity Juice that are very popular this year with hens looking to keep everything in the town centre.

The market for hens and stags sort of tracks the wedding market with business throughout the year but peak season would be May through to September. Bookings for 2020 are very strong already which is really positive given the bulk of the bookings really don’t start coming in until January. Looks like another bumper year ahead for hens and stags in Sligo!
